I stripped things back this year. Simple setups, good energy, and space for things to unfold. When the set feels right, the camera mostly stays out of the way. I planned less and paid attention more. I keep gravitating toward work that feels lived in, not overproduced. It’s the in-between moments that create great human-centered work.
Becoming a dad for the second time played a role in that shift. Life at home moved faster, which made me slow down everywhere else. I spent more time observing, talking, and getting a feel for a place before picking up the camera. I found myself more interested in the quiet details and natural rhythms already there, working with the light and mood of a space rather than trying to create something that wasn’t. That shift opened the work up and made it easier to find the right moments without overworking them.
That openness carried beyond the set. The work started to feel more exploratory, taking me to new places and introducing me to new people. I get a front row seat to the world, with access to places and moments I wouldn’t otherwise have, and I translate that curiosity through my camera. That openness, and the people I get to share it with, is what I’m carrying into 2026.
